In this weeks class, we all got to present our second group project. It was really awesome to see the different projects that people had worked on. Everyone seed to love our concept. They found it educative because nobody really knew that the fist aid procedures were different for children. We also made sure to avoid the mistakes that we made in the first project, we made sure that the time for each video wasn't too long and we provided an option for the audience to go back to the main menu if they wanted to. Dr Cecile. also commended our work.

During the workshop, I learnt how to design interactive narrative using 180/360 Go Pro camera. It wasn't quite clear but I was able to understand better after watching tutorials on how to use the camera on the canvas. We were also introduced to adobe premiere and I learnt basic tools on the software and how to edit videos on it. I later experienced some issues with the software so I couldn't use it effectively for the project.

For the weekly group assignment, we were told to create an immersive experience and narrative with the 180/360 Go Pro camera. I wasn't able to fully participate in this project because it was the week I came to the UK however I was involved in the conversation and I contributed to the ideas that we worked on. Because I had to self isolate upon arrival, Jerry help us to get the 180/360 camera from the lab and filmed the video. Wanxin and I worked on the editing and I selected the music to be used. We agreed to make a video on educating people about the different types of colour blindness. I thought it was a brilliant idea. I also got to practice on my video editing skills. Editing a video made with 180/360 Go pro camera was slightly different from editing normal video but it felt great to learn something new.

The technology that was used in the project made the audience feel like they were a part of the image, like they were somewhat in the video or very close to it. The technology made it possible to capture the environment from every angle thereby allowing the viewers to explore the image more deeply. We wanted the audience to feel as though they had the different types of colour blindness that was portrayed in the video. We wanted them to sort of experience what it felt like to live with these conditions and the 180/360 video was perfect for conveying the message.

This was our last project together as a group and it was awesome working with Esther, Jerry and Wanxin. We were made ourselves available regardless of the different time zones and participated actively in making the project a success.

From this week's readings, I got to understand the language of new media. New media came as a result of the translation of all existing media into numerical data accessible through computers. New media involved graphics, moving images, sounds, shapes, spaces and texts that have become computable. The principles of the new media according to Lev Manovich are numerical representation(All new media objects, whether created or converted from analogue to digital are composed of digital codes ), modularity(the factual nature of new media; changing the shape or the size does not affect the structure of the medium), automation(digital coding and modularity has made it possible for the automation of media content ), variability (a new media object can exist in potentially different versions)and cultural transcoding(computerization turns media into computer data). I was also able to understand the connection between the media and the computer from history.I found this read very helpful because it broadened my understanding of digital media.
