In these two weeks, everyone made a pitch presentation of their individual project. We also got to ask questions and give suggestions on everyone’s project. Everyone had amazing ideas. I got to make my presentation in week 7. My coursemates liked my work but they that the project might be too ambiguous. Dr Cecile also thought the same thing. She also suggested that I get support from a charity organisation that is also interested in the protest in Nigeria. She also said I should consider if I’m bringing something new to the table and I should have a more specific audience.

I put all the comments and suggestions I got from my coursemates and Tutor into consideration and I concluded that I was going to change my topic. I took this decision because the only non-governmental organisation I knew of that was interested in the protest was under attack of the government. I had also planned to have an interview with key voices of the protest for the project but the key voices were also under attack by the government so I thought it wise to drop the project for ethical and safety reasons. Also, I thought about the content of the project and I didn't think I was bring anything that was obviously new to the topic apart from the fact that I was documenting the information in a non-linear narrative. Lastly, I would not be able to create the assets for the project because I would have to source almost all if not all the information and assets I would use for the project from the internet and that would defeat the creativity of the project.

I went back to making research for a new topic a new idea came when I went back the readings on Zombie media in week 2. I drew inspiration for the manifesto of zombie media ‘The media is not dead’. I also thought of ways in which the different forms of electronic media could be preserved especially when we live a world where people would opt for what is trending. I also discovered that although the idea of recycling electronic waste is a topic that has been explored but it wasn't widely discussed or promoted when compared to recycling bottles. So made more research as saw that the topic was worth gaming a project on. The idea was to educate young adults on how to recycle electronic waste. I prepared a pitch presentation for the next class.

Scribbles of my new idea.
